This year's Tatton soundtrack might have to include: It only happens when it rains, raindrops keep falling on my head, singing in the rain... I could go on, so please let me know if you have any less clichéd suggestions. But, there's no getting away from it, the weather for the build up has been truly appalling. It's been a challenge for the show organisers, garden designers, nursery folk and TV crews alike. High-vis jacket-wearing was extended the full duration of press day yesterday as conditions got muddier.

agrostis_nebulosa_and_astrantia.jpgBut against such odds, they have all delivered a fantastic flower show, sunshine bright with colour. And somehow, against the wet, slate-coloured skies, the plants of high summer seem all the more vibrant. From show gardens to nursery stands, the stars of the show are easily gem-like crocosmias in a glorious range of orange shades from tangerine to gold; flat heads of raspberry ripple achilleas are also stand out performers.

But my favourite plant combination today was the gorgeously delicate Agrostis nebulosa with Astrantia 'Roma' - a fuzzy cloud of bronze grass with jewel-like blooms just peeping through, unfazed by the downpours, raindrops glistening prettily as the sun re-emerged.

To see the va lue of such beauty in nature - compare to looted and destroyed nature or with pictures from the moon. The imagine we would have a planet like the moon, nothing but dust and stones and rocks and gravel and nothing at all to give us joy and love into our hearts and souls! Nothing to please our eyes ...
Such extreme healthy nature as shown here on this picture was once common also in Europe and most other countries on this planet. The destruction of jungle and forests all around the world is but a result of our excesses in life, our wasteful and abusive handling of natural resources and our attempts to control nature, to master nature, to exploit nature or simply to destroy nature for profit or to replace nature with over-sized houses, oversized homes and polluting profit oriented industries.
When I was a tiny kid, all forests in Switzerland were almost like jungle ...
Now we have more money, more cars, more TVs - TVs are important, they can be used to replay on National Geographic memories from ancient times when we still had nature on our planet and around our homes. Myself however I rather enjoy real nature without TV. Skin to skin with nature.
To enjoy the beauty of flowers, the exotic lotus or sceneries and landscapes - we also need clean and beautiful surroundings. No flower truly is beautiful amidst trash and junk or dust. No lotus flower can display its full beauty when growing in a polluted dirty quarrel or dirty lotus pond. No human looks beautiful when living on a junkyard. Our God given nature is our God made playground for all eternity.
